Dynamic Therapy LLC is “private pay.” That means it does not take health insurance. Although this may pose an obstacle for some, the advantages of private pay include enhanced privacy and an individualized therapeutic approach unfettered by the influence of health insurance companies. What’s more, DTL is committed to making psychotherapy affordable by offering a sliding scale and “semi bono” rates.
And, depending on your copays and deductible, not using using health insurance to pay for therapy may result in about the same, sometimes lower, out-of-pocket costs.
Making Psychotherapy Affordable
With or without health insurance, therapy does represent an investment. That’s why I take steps to put psychotherapy within reach of as many individuals and couples as I can. Not only do my rates compare favorably to those of other psychotherapists, I offer a sliding scale that, depending on income, reduces my psychotherapy fees by 40 percent, or more. And, I offer a limited number of very-low-income patients a “semi-bono” rate.
Fees
I provide individual psychotherapy in standard 50-minute and extended 75-minute sessions. To help make sure both partners feel heard, couples therapy sessions are slightly longer (60-minute standard and 90-minute extended) than individual psychotherapy sessions.
Individual Psychotherapy
Per session
The fee per individual session is:
- $140 – $90 [50-minute, standard session, based on sliding scale]
- $185 – $155 [75-minute, extended session, based on sliding scale]
Intake
The fee for the first individual therapy session (“intake”) is:
- $215 – $180 [90-minute, individual intake, based on sliding scale]
Couples Therapy
Per session
The fee per couples session is:
- $185 – $140 [60-minute, standard session, based on sliding scale]
- $240 – $190 [90-minute, extended session, based on sliding scale]
Intake
The fee for the first couples therapy session (“intake”) is:
- $275 – $220 [90-minute, couples intake, based on sliding scale]
Sliding Scale
I offer a sliding scale to put professional psychotherapy within reach of more people. Although I do have some guidelines to help you determine what you can pay, I do not require any formal application or documentation. Once you and I have settled on a fee, you can count on that amount remaining the same for at least a year.
“Semi Bono”
I also offer a limited number of patients a significantly reduced rate. It’s not exactly pro bono. Since I do charge a small fee, I call it “semi bono.”
If your annual income is less than $25,000 ($40,000 household), please ask me whether I am currently taking on patients at reduced rates.
