Throughout more than three decades working to understand why people think, feel, and behave the way we do—first as a marketer and content strategist, now as a psychotherapist—the through-line has been a fascination with how many drivers of our human behavior operate outside of awareness.
A Unique Path Creates a Unique Perspective
Yes, I have taken a winding, expansive path that has encompassed a broad range of life experience. This unique mix informs my individualized therapeutic approach to individual psychotherapy and couples therapy. And it provides the unique perspective that could be exactly right for understanding you and your unique path.
As a marketer, the humans of interest were consumers. The point of understanding those hidden drivers was not to bring them into awareness, but to prompt a specific behavior, buying. Now, as a psychotherapist, you and I share the goals of understanding what drives your behavior and of bringing those drivers into awareness so that you may behave more purposefully. The point is to help you lead a more fulfilling life.
Varied & Extensive Training
As one relic of my previous work, I hold a master’s degree from the University of St. Thomas – Opus College of Business. As a result of earning my second master’s degree — this one in clinical social work from the St. Catherine University / University of St. Thomas – School of Social Work — I became a licensed independent clinical social worker (LICSW). Also after earning master’s in clinical social work, I completed the two-year, post-graduate Program in Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy at the Minnesota Institute for Contemporary Psychotherapy and Psychoanalysis.
